3.5.0

Major Features
- Significantly improve the synchronization of videos between devices. This makes VR Sync suitable for use with things like motion platforms and external audio systems. To ensure devices all start at the same time, they will now wait for a few seconds to start a video after a play command is sent. Users will see a small loading bar to indicate the waiting time.
- Add HTTPS support to the VR Sync server, to improve compatibility with restrictive networks.
- Motion platform support using SimTools and their Ride Creator.
- Windows: Add the option to show content in 2D full screen mode. You can use this in combination with 2D content using local preloading to show a regular video on a big screen, while still showing 360-degree video on VR devices.
Minor Features/Improvements
- Significantly improve the projection accuracy of 360 videos, which gets rid of “wobblyness” that was especially noticeable on straight lines.
- Increase timing accuracy of spatial audio on some platforms.
- Show device latency in the web remote.
- Add several functions to provide easier customer support.
- Show a loading icon when a video is synchronizing to the correct time.
- When devices have different locally preloaded content, the web remote will now still try to show the name of one of the files, instead of the old non-descript names like “Local Video 7”.
- Improve synchronization of web remote preview view.
- Prevent synchronization accuracy loss if the app and device have been running for several days without shutting down.
- Locally preloaded background and logo will now override their cloud counterparts, instead of vice versa.
- Quest 2/3: Implement a new request dialog for storage permissions in order to comply with the Meta Quest store requirements.
- Windows: Fix several inconsistencies in graphics settings. There is now just a single setting.
- Windows: Enable vertical synchronization to significantly reduce power usage on high-end computers when in 2D mode. This can also greatly improve video playback performance on certain low-end CPUs. We have seen an old i3-based NUC go from unusable choppy video to completely smooth.
Bug Fixes
- Fix an issue where the web remote would keep asking for a license code after clearing server data.
- Pressing the cancel button right after downloading finishes would not cancel the transition to the video player on some platforms.
- Don’t flash the background and company logo between playlist loops.
- Fix a crash after playing many dozens of high-resolution images.
- Automatically restart the application after a crash which could occur in extremely rare cases when the user dons certain types of devices right when a very large video starts.
- Fix several rare issues regarding playlists and/or turning the device screen on where a video might play from the start instead of synchronizing to the correct time.
- Fix wrong media/progress information in the web remote when using playlists in some scenarios.
- Meta Quest: Fix an issue where it could freeze when large .png files were used as content or as a logo.
- Windows: Removed “Back to PIN” button when you are already on the PIN screen.

- Starting this version, the VR Sync client supports the Quest 2. Use the Preloader to install the application, as you would for the other platforms. Next to the the Quest 2 support, the Oculus build now also contains support for hand tracking. When using hand track on the Quest or the Quest 2, pinch with your thumb and index finger to select buttons on the Pin entry screen.
- In the Web Remote, we added the “Calibrate viewpoint” feature. Pressing this button will calibrate the viewpoint of all connected devices.
- This release also fixes some issues with the video player, and an issue that prevented some users from reaching the Pin entry on mobile devices.

- The content filenames will now be listed in the VR Sync Remote. This allows you to see the exact video’s being preloaded instead of for example ‘Local Video 1’. This feature also allows you to see which files are different per device, to identify preloading issues during the testing phase.
